The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) head men’s basketball coach Kahil Fennell announced on April 17 the hiring of former UTRGV student manager Jacob Galindo, who spent the last three seasons at Prairie View A&M, as the director of basketball operations.
Galindo joined the staff at Prairie View A&M in the 2021-22 season as a graduate assistant before being promoted to assistant coach this past season, where he helped the Panthers win the EKU Classic.
Galindo assisted in all aspects of the basketball program at Prairie View A&M that included video operations, equipment, monitored student-athlete academic progress, handled team managers, and executed social media plans.
Galindo also spent two seasons with the Houston Dynamo as their equipment manager.
Prior to his time at Prairie View A&M, Galindo spent five seasons as a student manager with the UTRGV men’s basketball program under head coach Lew Hill. Galindo spent long hours in the gym aiding in player development with student-athletes while helping with video operations that helped with player development and scouting.
Galindo also handled equipment for the program, helped organize team meals, helped plan and execute social media ideas, while organizing community service events.
Galindo graduated with a Bacheclor of Science in Communication Studies from UTRGV in 2021 and earned his Master of Arts in Sociology from Prairie View A&M in 2023.
